The perfect workshop to get you ready for those autumnal evening and winter days. Within this workshop I will show you how to make a simple, pattern free, garment called the Blanket Coat by using just your body measurements. The Blanket Coat is featured in my book 'girl with a sewing machine' and can be a coat or a Gillet. a great workshop for those wanting to learning how to sew, design and play with fabric. Bring along a large blanket for an upcycled make or fabric of your choice ( boiled wool, fleece are a few of my suggestions) but it will need to be between 2 to 3 mtrs in length.

Do you know where your natural waist is? How to adjust your pattern - adjusting a pattern to fit is not as hard as it may seem. A simple pattern tweak here and there, can make all the difference!

Sashiko Stitching Workshop Venue: Little Heath Barn, Bromsgrove, B60 1HU Date: TBC 2019 Details: Sashiko (literally meaning "little stabs") is a form of decorative stitching from Japan. This is a perfect follow up to littleheath barn's Shibori workshops (but not required) you can work on denim or indigo dyed fabrics to practice Sashiko patterns. By the end of the session you will have a collection of sashiko samplers, so you can refer to them as you begin to add sashiko to your future creative projects. This is a fabulous introduction to this traditional technique. All materials are provided but please bring fabric - I would suggest an old pair of non stretch denim jeans for a mock indigo fabric look.

When it comes to interfacing it isn’t ‘one size fits all’ but don’t worry! Vlieseline ambassador, Jenniffer Taylor will share her tricks and tips on choosing the right interfacing for your projects. Whether you are working with stretch or woven fabrics, there is a selection of interfacings and tapes to help provide structure and shape, taking your garments making skills from home made to ‘Wow, I made that!’ Within the workshop you will be sampling a selection of interfacing for both stretch and woven fabric covering most project constructions such as necklines, hemlines, facings along with hints and tips on choosing and fusing your interfacing.
